Duurenjargal Ts., head of the Clinical Department at the NURA Center, stated: “Global cancer research predicts that cancer incidence will increase by 20-30% in all countries by 2030 and by 55% by 2040. As of 2022, an alarming statistic shows that 6,000-7,000 people in Mongolia are expected to be diagnosed with cancer each year, with more than 70% of these cases detected at a late stage. An analysis of the age demographics of patients at the NURA Center reveals a positive trend, with individuals aged 30-64 being the most proactive in seeking early detection. One of the center’s key features is the use of low-dose computed tomography to assess calcium scores, a method particularly relevant for Mongolians. A calcium score above 101—where a healthy individual’s score should ideally be 0—indicates coronary artery disease and can lead to a heart attack. So far, 375 high-risk individuals have been identified early and referred to advanced medical facilities.”
